What To Look For In A Dodge Viper
The Dodge Viper made its first public appearance at the 1989 North American International Auto Show and people fell in love with it. People paid upfront before the vehicle was formally produced to the public; only a limited were first made and celebrities tried to pay extra to get their hands on one. Nearly thirty years later, the last year of the Viper was announced, a victim of the economic crash that engulfed the industry and everything else. The Dodge Viper is still out there, albeit used, and people still want one, even though it is Dodge’s most expensive car. Here are some things to look for in a Dodge Viper.
First, take a look at the engine. The Viper is an example of speed and power and prowess as the vehicle is a sleek piece of work. It took multiple attempts to get the engine right, but the last overhaul finally fitted it with an 8.4-liter V10 to function at 600 hp plus a six-speed transmission. The suspension system has adjusted shocks that smooths out the drive. In 2008, the Viper improved their suspension, exhaust routing, and electronic engine-management. It should be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. Get a Viper that is closer to that for the finest transition when driving it.
Next, note the brake lights. Why the brake lights? The Viper has a third brake light in the middle of the back bumper mounted inside the Viper logo. The third brake light is extra vision for the driver behind you and it flashes in a cool fashion. Sticking with safety, look at the seat belts; another different component of the car. The seat belts come from the center instead of from the door, meaning you have to reach for the seat belt over your right shoulder. It’s quirky, but the inside is tight enough from the side, and there’s some bourgeois about a seat belt design that is unorthodox.
The 2017 Dodge Viper has top notch antilock brakes and stability control with airbags on the side doors. The 19-inch Kumho tires provide great traction on the road, including wet conditions. Note the condition of the vehicle because it may have been used as a racing vehicle since Vipers were customizable cars for one's personal needs. The driver's seat and carpeting will show the wear it has gone through and take a closer look at the Viper's side pipes and rims for any damage or scrapes.
The Dodge Viper is obviously not a common car, which is why it does not roll out of the lots anymore, but for the hardcore sport car lovers, people still want to get behind the wheel of it. The Viper is full of power that is made to ride the roads at high speeds and impress others. But the Viper has a lifespan like others and it can look too good to impress. Note the special features and how it works; if it all checks out, you may drive well beyond 55.
